If you’re accident-prone on the road like muah, then having travel insurance is simply non-negotiable. I’ve blogged before about the importance of being insured abroad, but I understand if it takes a canceled flight or lost baggage for you to finally be convinced 😉

I’m insured through Allianz and you can get a free quote for yourself at the end of this post, especially after learning about the app that you can use in conjunction with it.

While I’ve had my fair share of awkward mishaps while traveling, it’s so comforting to know that in the face of an emergency or disaster, my insurance policy has my back.

Check out Allianz's new and improved TravelSmart app for your travel insurance! Click To Tweet

Introducing New & Improved TravelSmart App | TheBlogAbroad.comSo first a quick breakdown of the app, some new updates, and how you can use it while you’re traveling.

When you open this tab, you can select specific help based on your needs. There’s an option for a hospital, doctor, pharmacy, police station, or embassy.

In the face of an emergency, having this tab to quickly assist you is so convenient.

Not to mention, this list covers facilities that have been reviewed by the Allianz Global Assistance team, so you can trust that they are reputable places.

Based on your location, you’ll also have a tab with the local country emergency info such as police, ambulance, fire, and embassy numbers for even quicker assistance.

I’m currently writing this from Australia, where I can easily see the local emergency numbers are 112, as opposed to the 911 I’m used to in the states.
