I have no clue where I’d be in life had I never studied abroad — and thankfully, I’ll never have to find out.

It single-handedly deserves the credit for where I’m at today, and the global citizen I feel I’ve become.

The incredible privilege and opportunity to learn about the world, its cultures, and its history through firsthand experiences is one of the most valuable gifts we can provide our youth.

The way we cultivate global leaders and ambassadors of our country is through studying abroad, and that’s why I’m so excited to announce 2017’s ScholarTrip Contest with Allianz Global Assitance!

This is the 13th year Allianz has awarded grants and scholarships (over $150,000 so far) for those who have longed to study or volunteer abroad.

Investing in our future generations’ global education is the best way to grow and advance as a country and I already know my future kids will be studying abroad at least once in their collegiate careers.

Studying abroad is what gave me the courage to travel solo, and from there, the courage to seek an international career, and the rest is pretty much history!

I was so fortunate that someone cared enough about me to recommend this life-changing opportunity, and I hope you have someone in your life where you can do the same.

So peep all the deets below:

HOW TO ENTER

Submit a 60-90 second video – OR – a 500-word essay that answers the question: Who is your ideal travel companion (can be living or dead), where you would go, and why.

Video submissions must be provided as WMV, MOV, or MP4 files and essay submissions must be provided as a Microsoft Word document or a PDF.

Anyone that’s a legal U.S. resident and a current student over the age of 14 from an accredited high school, trade school, university, or college is eligible to win.

I thought studying abroad was out of the picture for me when I entered my 5th year of college due to changing majors, but that couldn’t have been a better chance for me, as I no longer had my collegiate sports obligations.
